American Electric was established in 1983 as a family-owned and operated electrical contracting
company.
 Mitch Swerbilow was the sole electrician
at the start while his father, Bernie, handled administrative
matters. From their humble beginnings as a two-man operation, they
hired their first full-time electrician within one year of
their start-up. The company grew steadily
