Hillard Donner, Founder

For the past 60 years, Hillard Donner has received numerous awards and distinctions for his knowledge of wine and business savvy. He has been credited with introducing wine to the Annapolis area and Eastern Shore of Maryland, having first traveled to France in the 1970's to establish direct business ties with many unknown as well as prominent vineyards.

Mr. Donner has been a member of the prestigious Commanderie de Bordeaux for many years and has earned a reputation for having one of the most comprehensive selections of Bordeaux wine on the eastern seaboard.

His loyal clientele recognize him as an unofficial ambassador of downtown Annapolis. He routinely greets customers who have lived here for years or newcomers just stepping off their boats docked at the adjacent City Dock.

Mr. Donner is equally known throughout the Annapolis community for his philanthropic spirit, an unflappable optimism for life, and, of course, his extraordinary knowledge of wine. Mr. Donner is often quoted as saying, "the only gift more precious than wine is the joy of living and bringing happiness to others."
